Measles cases in Florida continue to rise but the rate of the spread has slowed significantly in the last month. According data from the Department of Health, as of March 21 there were 143 reported measles cases in 2026, with the majority still in Collier County. The week before, there were 139.

Participants in the state’s AIDS Drug Assistance Program will be able to access funds to cover their HIV medication after Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation Tuesday providing stopgap funding mitigating cuts imposed earlier this month.The bill (HB 697) includes $31 million to restore cuts to ADAP through June 30, the end of the fiscal year.

Cases of measles rose minimally across Florida in the first full week of March. The Reportable Diseases Frequency Report updated weekly by the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Epidemiology showed 132 cases of measles across the state, an increase of eight cases from the Feb. 28 report total.

An outbreak of measles cases among students at Ave Maria University in Naples is apparently on the decline. The Mater Dei Clinic at the Collier County institution reported Friday that there had been no new testing in the last 72 hours. Additionally, the clinic reported that the last positive case reported had been on Monday, February 2.

A health alert is being re-issued for the presence of harmful blue-green algae toxins in the Sebastian Canal off the Caloosahatchee River and another for or Enterococcus bacteria at North Gulf Shore Beach Access Clam Pass Beach.

Official state health department statistics confirmed, as of Jan. 31, there were 15 cases of measles statewide, with four in Collier and Duval counties, and one in Alachua, Broward, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Miami-Dade and St. Johns counties.
