The Florida Wildlife Commission has reported the first Florida panther death of 2026, a one-and-a-half to two-year-old female found at a Collier County location.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is boosting safety and convenience along I-75 with upcoming installations. A pre-construction information session covering new interchange construction at I-75 at Toledo Blade Boulevard and Sumter Boulevard in Sarasota County will be held on Tuesday, Jan 6.

Road work on I-75 will require nighttime lane closures.

A multi-count lawsuit has been filed in a case involving the February 2024 crash of a private passenger jet along I-75 in Naples that killed the pilot and co-pilot.Two passengers and a flight attendant escaped the crash.

Motorists can expect lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours on northbound and southbound I-75 over the Peace River Bridge.Work will be conducted from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Sunday, April 6 through Friday, April 11.

A proposal to increase maximum speeds on Florida highways is moving forward in both legislative chambers, with the House adding it Tuesday to a wide-ranging transportation bill.
