Each spring, Florida Repertory Theatre hosts an intensive weekend of rehearsals, readings, talk-backs, and development that brings professional playwrights, directors, actors, and audiences to Fort Myers. Audrey II arrived at the Florida Rep scene shop in a shipping pod. She was too big to fit in the Rep's normal rehearsal hall. She had to be compressed just to fit through the scene shop's bay doors. She required a flatbed to make the three-block trip to the theater for opening night. And by the time she gets to the final act, she's bigger than the cab of an 18-wheeler. That alone makes "Little Shop of Horrors" must-see theater.

Florida Repertory Theatre in downtown Fort Myers recently announced the line up of shows for their 2026-2027 performance season, including both adult and family-friendly comedies, a psychological thriller, a documentary, and plenty of music. We’ll get a preview of the upcoming 20th season and explore their production of “Little Shop of Horrors” that opens later this month in a conversation with the company’s producing artistic director Greg Longenhagen.
