FDOT says the purpose of the project is to increase capacity, improve traffic operations and enhance safety on I-75 from Golden Gate Parkway to Alico Road within Collier and Lee Counties.

Plans to widen Interstate 75 from Golden Gate Parkway in Collier County to Alico Road in Lee County were explained Monday at Estero Community Park. The wider I-75 will have express lanes and auxiliary lanes — but it won’t have a sound barrier in Estero — and that absence is one that is making some residents none too happy.

The Lee County Department of Transportation advises motorists that Fiddlesticks Boulevard traffic will be shifted to the new roundabout the week of May 11 in order to access Three Oaks Parkway Extension and Daniels Parkway.

Traffic resumed over the Wilson Pigott Bridge Thursday, a Florida Department of Transportation notice said.
