The No Kings III event was billed as a protest rally and drew people of many different political affiliations who said they had concerns with how the current administration in Washington run by President Donald Trump was handling things.

Florida Congressman Jimmy Patronis criticized Democrats Friday for the government shutdown and says Americans should "sit on the couch and watch college football” instead of taking part in Saturday’s No Kings rallies. Florida’s former chief financial officer made his remarks during a virtual media briefing.Using widely used Republican talking points, Patronis blamed Democrats completely for the now government shutdown, terming it the "Schumer Shutdown" after Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer.

More than 2,500 locations are being listed for a country-spanning No Kings demonstration on Saturday. Close to 90 of those locations are in Florida with about a dozen spread throughout Southwest Florida from Bradenton to Naples and Sanibel to Sebring.The events are being called a response to what has been termed as actions that resemble authoritarianism carried out by the Trump Administration.
