Leading Early Onset Bipolar Disorder Researcher Headlines FGCU Children's Mental Health Conference

Treating mental illnesses, particularly in children, can come with its own unique set of challenges and building a strong community network of medical providers, parents and educators can be essential.  Building those networks is the focus of Saturday’s Children’s Mental Health Conference at Florida Gulf Coast University.   The conference includes a talk by a leading researcher in the field of treating bipolar disorder in children, Dr. Demitri Papolos.  He’s the Director of Research at the Juvenile Bipolar Research Foundation.  WGCU’s John Davis recently caught up with Dr. Papolos to explore the challenges and opportunities in helping bipolar children and for a look at the prevalence of early onset bi-polar disorder.
