The first Mormon temple in South Florida is scheduled to open this spring in Davie. It will be only the second temple in the state and the 143rd world-wide.  Local church representative Tony Burns says the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has been growing in South Florida.

“The church would like the have the temples reasonably near where the concentration of membership is. We for example here have congregations of about 25,000”, Burns said.All those Mormons have had to go to Orlando or further to have important religious ceremonies—like marriage—performed in a temple. Non-Mormons will get a rare chance to go inside the temple during an open house that will run from mid-March through mid-April.
