Noted Author to Speak at Sanibel Writer’s Conference

The Sanibel Writer’s Conference gets underway today.  The annual event includes workshops, panels, lectures and readings by well-known writers and teachers.  Florida Gulf Coast University is a sponsor.

One of this year’s featured speakers is Tim O’Brien.  His work includes “The Things They Carried”, named by the New York Times as one of the best books of the last quarter century.  Much of O’Brien’s writing is influenced by his tour of duty in Viet Nam.  Tim O’Brien speaks this evening at 6:00 at Schein Hall on Sanibel.  The talk begins at 6:00 and is free and open to the public.

Valerie Alker hosts All Things Considered. She has been a Reporter/Producer and program host at WGCU since 1991.
