Collier County Commissioners approved a $2 million dollar beach renourishment project Tuesday, to mitigate erosion on a stretch of Naples Beach from Doctor's Pass to north of Lowdermilk Park.
The project will involve transporting 35,000 cubic yards of sand from a mine in Immokalee. The beach renourishment effort is slated to begin November 1 and be complete by Thanksgiving. Collier County plans to conduct a new survey of beach conditions in January to determine other areas that may benefit from similar projects.
