Unlike traditional car shows that focus primarily on mechanical specifications, “Cars as Art” highlights the artistic beauty, design, and craftsmanship of a stunning collection of antique and classic cars. It takes place April 4.

Marco Island Center for the Arts is celebrating the start of Christmas week with “Singin' and Swingin' – The Holiday Songbook.” It’s a musical revue that features singer Charlie Blum. He’ll not only perform. Director Hyla Crane points out that he’s also the one who chose the music for the show.

Sam Bobrick is known as a comedy writer for shows such as Captain Kangaroo, The Flintstones, Andy Griffith Show, Get Smart, Bewitched, Smothers Brothers' Comedy Hour and Saved by the Bell. But he also wrote "Baggage," onstage now at Arts Center Theatre on Marco Island.

Testing of the City of Marco Island sewer collection system utilizing smoke to find and repair leaks is scheduled for Aug. 20 through Sept. 29.This test, which involves forcing smoke into the sanitary sewer lines, will check for leaks, breaks and defects in the system. The smoke is odorless, creates no fire hazard, and should not enter homes or businesses unless there is defective plumbing in need of repair.

A Marco Island couple was arrested on June 11 following a search by local authorities. The investigation led to the discovery of troubling conditions at their residence, with several animals involved. The case remains under investigation.
