Allegiant Air began service Thursday at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, with an inaugural flight from Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Allegiant Travel Company will launch new routes this fall connecting 12 cities across the country, including a new destination: Fort Myers, Florida via Southwest Florida International Airport. The new routes will provide convenient, nonstop service between these cities and expand Allegiant’s presence in popular leisure destinations.

When Sunseeker Resort finally opened, it was slated to be "the" tourist spot of the region. Recently, Allegiant Travel put the huge resort up for sale less than 18 months after its grand opening.
