Tuesday, Aug. 28 was Election Day in the Florida primaries.
 
Voters, registered either Republican or Democrat, cast their ballots to decide who would be running for governor, attorney general and agriculture commissioner in the November election.
 
A record-breaking 1.86 million Floridians had already voted as of Monday morning. Almost 1.2 million citizens voted by mail, and another 650,000 used early-voting sites.
 
In Southwest Florida, 70,000 ballots were cast in Collier County with a nearly 34 percent voter turnout. Collier had the highest voter turnout of all 67 Florida counties in the 2016 presidential election.
 
Voter turnout in Lee County was 25 percent with 108,000 ballots cast overall. Of that, 73,000 voted by mail, and 12,500 voted early. 

Thirty-five thousand ballots were cast in Charlotte County with a voter turnout of 26 percent.
In Sarasota County, the turnout for the primary election was 31 percent with 98,000 ballots cast. The Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections said the overall turnout exceeded that of the 2014 and 2016 primary elections by 3 p.m. Tuesday.
 
Thirty-two percent of voters in Manatee County cast their votes, totalling 77,000 ballots by the time polls closed.
 
In Hendry County, more than 4,000 voters cast their ballots, and in Glades, more than 900 voted in the primaries.
 
Polls opened Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. and closed at 7 p.m.
