Florida primary election ballots will include the names of candidates who are no longer in the race. Gertrude Walker is Supervisor of Elections for St. Lucie County she says that’s because candidates who suspend their campaigns have not actually officially withdrawn from the race. To do so would require a withdrawal letter be sent to the state elections office."We have not had one presidential candidate to notify the state that they do not want to be included in the Florida primary", Walker said. "I think they’re all still a little hopeful that individuals may decide that they want to vote for them."
If a candidate did make such a notification to the state, polling places would be required to post notice that votes for that candidate would not be counted.
