Fort Myers Mayoral Candidates Make their Way to Nov. Ballot

It's official: the Fort Myers mayoral race candidates have been picked.

Kevin B. Anderson will face Jacquelyn D. McMiller in the Nov. 3 election.

Anderson won 39.91% of the vote, and McMiller received 24.33%, 14,659 people participated in that race.

It's the first time in a decade that people in the City of Fort Myers will have a new mayor.

The seat is open because current Mayor Randy Henderson resigned to run in the Congressional District 19 race, which he lost.

Anderson currently represents Ward 4 on the city council and a retired Fort Myers police department officer.

McMiller is the secretary for Lee County’s NAACP and has worked as an investigator for the Florida Department of Children and Families. If elected, she would be the first Black woman mayor of the city.

Mayoral terms are four years long, and have no term limits.
