Schools in Southwest Florida are keeping an eye on their operating procedures in the face of the spread of coronavirus. Florida Gulf Coast University says it will will operate remotely starting March 15 through March 29. The university will be open, and staff will continue to work as usual.

Florida Southwestern State College will suspend in-person classes March 16 - 22, moving them online. Hodges University reports they will operate as usual until further notice. In Lee County public schools, spring break starts today (Friday) and will last through next week. Collier County public schools are currently on spring break and set to return Tuesday, March 17th.

Some polling places will relocate because of risk reduction in assisted living facilities and a shortage of poll workers. If you don’t want to go to a polling place, it’s not too late to pick up a vote-by-mail ballot from your Supervisor of Elections office then drop it at an early voting site.

Voters are encouraged to check with their county supervisor of elections office for the latest information.

Collier County residents should check CollierVotes.com and Lee County residents should check Lee.vote.
