Florida is a step closer to getting a new license plate. Designers at the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles came up with four options for online voters to choose from. 50,000 votes were cast over a three week period.

The tag that was selected is a fluorescent green on the top and bottom. Where it says Florida on the tag, the O is a leafy round orange. There was both compliments and criticism of the tags that were offered.

There were some people who thought that the tag was too bland, but the designs were intended to be bland because that makes them easier for red light cameras and toll booth cameras to read.

The new design still needs the approval of the Governor and the Florida Cabinet.
