Flanked by Martin Luther King III and members of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, Congresswoman Corinne Brown called on citizens to make sure they’re registered to vote.
“If you are not registered or if you haven't voted since 2008, then you could have been purged”, said Brown. “So it’s everyone’s responsibility to make sure not only they can vote, but everybody in their house can vote.”
Martin Luther King III expanded that responsibility to include extended family, friends, and even casual acquaintances.
“We need to get on the phones and call everyone in Jacksonville and Duval County and other counties in the state that we know”, King said. “Our conversation needs to be are you registered? And if you’re not, you’ve got to make sure you get registered before Tuesday so that you’ll be able to vote on November 6th.”
To check your voter registration status, go to the Florida division of elections website: http://election.dos.state.fl.us. The deadline to register to vote is October 9th.
