Six Florida Public Schools a "Best Value"

Despite rising tuition rates, Florida's public colleges are still a good bargain according to a new report. 6 of Florida's 12 state schools made the annual list of "Best Values in Public Colleges" put out by Kiplinger's Personal Finance.

Last year, tuition rates increased as much as 15% across Florida. In fact, double digit increases have been the rule in recent years. Still, Florida has some of the lowest tuitions in the country, ranking 40th on a state-by-state list of college costs. The best values in the Sunshine State, according to Kiplinger's are the University of Florida, which ranked 3rd on the national list of schools, and New College of Florida in Sarasota, which ranked 7th.

Four other Florida universities made the list of 100 best values, including Florida State University, the University of Central Florida, the University of South Florida, and the University of North Florida.
