Thrifty parents in Florida can save on back-to-school shopping next weekend. From Friday, August 2nd, through Sunday, August 4th, the state won't be collecting sales tax on shoes and clothing buys under $75 or on school supplies under $15. 

And new this year - computers costing less than $750 will be tax-free, too.

Florida’s back-to-school sales tax holiday has been popular with shoppers for the past fifteen years, and retailers say they see a sales bump every time.

John Fleming of the Florida Retail Federation says most people don’t only spend money on the tax-free items.

"People go out, and they’ll have lunch and they’ll bring their families out and they’ll wind up spending more money just as a result of being in the stores", said Fleming.

Retailers say deals on computers will go beyond the sales-tax savings. That's because stores are marking down prices on PCs to get them below the $750 price tag to qualify for the tax-free offer.
