Pre-Frontal Activity and The Weekend Outlook

WUFT

During the twilight hours on Saturday, the cold front will be arriving over Florida’s panhandle. On Friday, some storms ahead of the cold front can produce periods of strong wind gusts nearing 40 mph, extending from the panhandle to the Big Bend area. For north central Florida, mainly afternoon storms are expected. And by late afternoon on Friday, for the areas in and around lake Okeechobee, developing showers and storms are forecast to linger late into the night to early Saturday morning. Saturday evening, the cooler and drier air will be felt throughout north and north central Florida, with overnight lows dropping into the 50’s. Not much rain from the cold front will affect south Florida, mainly, typical sea breeze activity. The cold front is forecast to fully pass over Florida on Sunday. For most of the state, clear skies and less humid conditions will linger until the middle of next week.
