On November 4, voters will decide whether or not to approve a proposed constitutional amendment that would legalize medical marijuana in Florida. This year, state lawmakers approved a measure legalizing a non-euphoria inducing strain of marijuana known as Charlotte’s Web aimed at reducing seizures in some patients. Proponents of Amendment Two say marijuana has legitimate medical uses and can provide needed relief to Floridians with certain medical conditions.
Opponents argue that the language of the proposed amendment would make it too easy for patients to get medical marijuana for less-serious ailments like minor aches and pains. Some also say the amendment could set Florida on a path toward full legalization of marijuana even for recreational use. We’ll hear from both sides. Plus, we explore possible business models for how a marijuana industry in Florida could take shape if voters approve the amendment.
