Today marks the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination. But Tampa is celebrating JFK's life and the 50th anniversary of his visit to the bay area - the first ever of a sitting president.
Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn will unveil a historic marker commemorating the presidential visit.
"Whereas the citizens of our city have mourned the loss of this great president, as the entire nation has for the past 50 years, we celebrate the historic visit he made to our city and the importance his visit had on our community and its citizens."The JFK Historic marker will be revealed at noon at the corner of Kennedy Boulevard and Franklin Street in downtown Tampa.
