Seven50 Is Making A 50-Year Plan For New Mega-Region: Southeast Florida

Leaders in seven southeastern Florida counties think some issues transcend municipal boundries.

The so-called Seven50 group says climate change, Everglades restoration and transporation are all issues they can get behind and take to lawmakers.

South Florida Regional Planning Council Executive Director Jim Murley says his group is making a list of issues the region should invest in.

"We can see clearly that we will all benefit if these investments are consistently part of a list we go to Tallahassee and Washington with and say these are the things we need in South East Florida", Murley said.

Murley says dealing with the effects of climate change, restoring the everglades and finding ways to fund a full fledged passenger rail system are all issues his group wants to address.

Seven50 has held 2 summits so far and hopes to set an agenda for the next 50 years.
