In battle over its past, China wages courtroom fight in California
“Inner Cartographies” presents a collection of paintings, textile-based works, assemblages and mixed media practices that chart metaphors for lived experience, fragments of memory, familial histories, cultural inheritance and individual transformation – that is, interior landscapes that resist fixed boundaries and reveal the self as fluid and continuously evolving. The exhibition is part of this year’s Collier County ¡ARTE VIVA! Celebration.
Roland Ruocco is a studio artist, but he’s best known for the dozens of murals he’s painted across Southwest Florida. Wendy White is an abstract impressionist painter, but she’s renowned for her award-winning short film “Roses Are Blind” and one-woman play, “The Jewish Nun,” performed Off-Broadway and internationally. Their September show, “Counterparts,” at DAAS CO-OP features their studio work.
An upcoming four-month sales tax “holiday” on certain camping and hunting gear, including guns and ammunition, is back to round out the year. The retail industry is hoping people are becoming more conscious of the discount period that begins Sept 1 and ends Dec. 31.
