The first GOP debate of the new year tonight will feature seven candidates, as low poll numbers knocked Carly Fiorina and Rand Paul off the main stage. Rand Paul has declined to participate in the undercard debate that starts at 6 p.m. on Fox Business. The main GOP debate starts at 9 p.m. and both will stream live on foxbusiness.com.

NPR Political Correspondent Don Gonyea talks with Here & Now’s Jeremy Hobson about Donald Trump versus Ted Cruz, Ted Cruz versus Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush versus Chris Christie, and other subplots that will be at play in tonight’s debate.
