Representative Alan Williams of Tallahassee would require people under stalking or domestic violence injunctions to give up their guns. Williams is anticipating opposition from gun rights activists, but says the measure isn’t a threat.

“It’s important that we provide as much clarity in the law to ensure that these individuals who are victims of domestic violence are safe. And it’s our hope that individuals who are advocates for the 2 nd amendment will understand that that’s what the intent is,” he said.

Williams is reaching out to gun rights advocates for feedback. The bill has not yet had a hearing.
