Florida’s March 15th Presidential Preference Primary Election is fast approaching with four Republicans and two democrats still in the race. Republican candidate and real estate mogul Donald Trump remains the frontrunner for the GOP nomination against fellow contenders Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida. On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton holds a strong lead in the race for delegates against Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
We explore the campaign politics and rhetoric shaping this year’s contest including the name-calling, demonization of candidates and uncivil tenor that’s mired the debate stage at times and led some critics to call for a return to civility. We’ll also explore the issues important to voters in the sunshine state and why so many Floridians have left the Republican and Democratic parties to register with no party affiliation, effectively meaning they won’t be able to vote in next week’s primary.
