The Florida Center for Investigative Reporting looked into the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s (FDLE) troubled five-year-old fingerprint ID system.
According to a new story from FCIR editor Tristram Korten, the system has cost far more to maintain than it did to design and build. Korten’s investigation also found the ID system is now so unstable that it is causing delays during investigations and arrests across the state.

According to FDLE officials, the article is "at best, misleading, and the associated lawsuit is unfounded."
Korten has issued a response to FDLE's comments on the story, as well.
