A Century Old SW Florida Holiday Message

In this week’s essay from News-Press storyteller Amy Bennett Williams, she takes us back in time more than a hundred years for a glimpse at life in Southwest Florida as reported in the pages of the Fort Myers Weekly Press, a precursor of the News-Press. Holiday gift ideas dominated the ads, much as they still do today, but the paper also included a lead editorial, the message of which Williams says, still rings as true today as it did more than a century ago.
