Gulfshore Opera premiere’s a fresh take on Die Fledermaus titled “The Bat’s Revenge”
Southwest Florida’s regional touring opera company Gulf Shore Opera kicks off the first formal production of its eighth season with performances of “The Bat’s Revenge.” The show is an innovative retelling of Johann Strauss’ operetta “Die Fledermaus.” We talk with the creator of the show, opera director and librettist Josh Shaw, who has come to Southwest Florida to direct performances of this debut production.

Update on COVID-19 hospitalizations, vaccinations and treatments
While the number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Florida hasn’t changed much in the last two weeks, Lee Health and Sarasota Memorial Health Care System officials have been reporting a slight increase in hospitalized coronavirus patients in recent months. We’ll explore the latest pandemic trends, vaccinations and available treatments including antivirals and monoclonal antibody treatments.

'Elderoscopy' program helps people have end-of-life conversations with older family members
As our loved ones get older it becomes increasingly important to have what can often be difficult conversations about their hopes and intentions around end-of-life issues. May is Older Americans Month, so today we’re going to have a conversation about ways to have those conversations. We learn about a program called Elderoscopy which is essentially a guide with tips for conversations between older adults and their loved ones that examines their wants and needs, and getting a handle on their hopes and intentions for things like end-of-life plans, finances, relationships driving, and more.
