The Economy: Extending the Bush Tax Cuts
President Bush called on Congress to extend his big tax cuts, which otherwise expire in 2010. Unless Congress acts, Bush said, most of the tax relief Congress and the White House have delivered during his two terms will be taken away.
Justice Inquiry Centers on Dismissal, Gay Rumors
The Justice Department's inspector general has told lawmakers that he is investigating whether one of the agency's lawyers was dismissed over a rumor about her sexual orientation. The inquiry is part of a larger examination of personnel practices under former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
