Harvey Now in the Gulf; Unsettled Weather in South Florida begins Today

NOAA

Overnight in the tropics, the remnants of Harvey emerged over the southwestern Gulf, where the National Hurricane Center says it could become a hurricane before hitting Texas this weekend. Closer to home, Meteorologist Jeff Huffman says we have some unsettled weather of our own to deal with."We have this tropical wave that might meander around Florida for several days. While development into a named storm is highly unlikely, it could produce several rounds of heavy rain across portions of central and south Florida. And an approaching front from the north will likely soak much of north Florida by the end of the week", Huffman said.

Huffman adds that the forecast heading into the weekend is highly uncertain, and tropical development just offshore of the Atlantic coast can not be ruled out.
