Gov. Rick Scott, who has praised but not publicly endorsed Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, said Wednesday he will support the party's eventual nominee.
But Scott, who said he's received calls of advice from across the country, reiterated that he is still waiting to hear a candidate who is focused on jobs.
"I've been very consistent," Scott told reporters after a Cabinet meeting. "I'm like other citizens in our state, we want somebody who is going to help turn around this economy. We've done it in Florida, there's still work to do." Scott added, "We need somebody that is going to say 'I have a plan that's going to add 12 million jobs. I have a plan to reduce the deficit.' "
Scott's office had to refute reports Tuesday from CBS and Fox News that the governor would endorse Trump, who during a Super Tuesday news conference in Palm Beach said Scott is a friend and "I have a lot of respect for him."
