Primary Election

Once the polls closed after yesterday’s primary election Secretary of State Kurt Browning called the day an overall success, despite glitches in a few precincts across the state. Trimmel Gomes reports.

Mold Risk After Fay

Tropical storm Fay has dumped lots of rain and driven many Floridians out of their homes. Health officials are reminding residents to to protect themselves against mold after the storm. Trimmel Gomes reports.

Governor Crist Pushing Construction

Governor Charlie Crist Charlie wants state agencies to speed up construction projects in hopes it will give the state’s lagging economy a boost. At a press conference yesterday he said he wants certain projects pushed forward immediately. Trimmel Gomes reports.

Senator Nelson on NASA

With Russia’s refusal to pull its armed forces out of Georgia, Florida’s senior U.S. Senator, Democrat Bill Nelson, says the situation could cause friction between the United States and Russia…which could bring serious consequences for the American Space program. NASA is retiring its entire fleet of shuttles in the next few years. Trimmel Gomes has more.

APD’s New Executive Director

There is a new person in charge at Florida’s Agency for Persons with Disabilities. Governor Charlie Crist tapped Jim DeBeaugrine (Duh-BO-Grin) yesterday to be the Agency’s new Executive Director. Trimmel Gomes reports.

Federal Judge Rules Against E.P.A.

The U.S. Environmental protection Agency, which has been blasted in the press by politicians and environmentalists in recent months for not doing enough to address global warming, is also failing to protect the Everglades.
