Amendment 2

This November, voters in Florida will weigh in on six constitutional amendments. As part of our Your Voice project “Florida’s Changing Constitution”… today we look at Amendment 2. The measure proposes a property tax break for Florida’s active duty troops serving overseas. The amendment is sponsored by the state legislature. But as WGCU’s John Davis reports, the real momentum came from an Orlando soldier fighting in the most notoriously dangerous regions of Afghanistan.

Collier Amendments Session

The Collier County School Board held an information meeting and public comment session Thursday night on the class size amendment - and amendment eight – both of which will be put to voters on the November ballot. But as WGCU’s John Davis report, the school board’s presentation was delivered to a largely empty audience.

Bower School of Music

Students returning for fall classes at Florida Gulf Coast University today will have a new building on campus.  The Bower School of Music’s new facility combines top of the line acoustics, performance space, and equipment.  As WGCU’s John Davis reports, the new building reflects the music program’s explosive growth in recent years.
