The South Florida Water Management District has finalized a deal to buy about 17-hundred acres of orange groves east of Labelle to create a water treatment and testing facility. It’s the first project approved under the new Northern Everglades and Estuaries Program, signed into law by Governor Charlie Crist earlier this year. WGCU’s Mike Kiniry reports.

There could soon be less water flowing into Florida’s rivers - as federal officials lean towards letting Georgia keep more water in its reservoirs to cope with a record-setting drought. But the governors of Georgia, Florida, and Alabama will be responsible for working out a long-term solution to their deepening dispute over water resources. Judith Smelser reports.
