Dayjet in Naples

Taking a trip from southwest Florida to places like Miami, Orlando or Tallahassee usually means a long drive. But WGCU’s Luis Hernandez has more on the arrival of a new type of air taxi service - to and from Naples - that could, for some, markedly change in-state air travel.

Commercial Flights in Punta Gorda

Hundreds of people turned out yesterday in Punta Gorda to see history in the making. It was the landing of the first commercial passenger airliner at Punta Gorda’s newly refurbished airport terminal. WGCU’s Valerie Alker has more.

The End of the Old Sanibel Drawbridge

The old Sanibel Causeway drawbridge is gone forever. Transportation officials blew it up early Tuesday. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez was there and has this report.

Estero Parkway Extension

Lee County Commissioners along with Estero community and business leaders broke ground on a new roadway project that will span I-75 in hopes of easing traffic to Florida Gulf Coast University and the Southwest Florida International Airport. WGCU’s John Davis has more.

Skybus comes to Charlotte County

The low-cost airline Skybus will soon offer two daily flights between Columbus, Ohio and the Charlotte County Airport in Punta Gorda. Tourism officials hope the flight service will bring new business and visitors to the area. WGCU’s Mike Kiniry has more.
