Alley Plan Opposed

Cycle Safety Campaign

Last year more than 500 motorcyclists died - and about 9-thousand were injured - in accidents on Florida’s highways. Officials with the state’s Department of Highway Safety say they want those numbers to drop. They’ve introduced a new campaign to try to make drivers more aware of cyclists on the road. In an effort to offset increasing fuel prices, U-S Airways has joined a growing list of air carriers charging passengers for checked luggage. Passengers on U-S Airways are now charged 15-dollars for their first checked bag. WGCU’s John Davis spoke to some travelers at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers to get their opinions and concerns about the new fees.

Stimulating Our Gas Tanks

American families are spending their economic stimulus checks on gas. An analysis from the Florida Public Interest Research Group shows that since President Bush approved the rebates in mid-February, the average household has spent more than 15-hundred dollars filling their tanks. But Gina Jordan tells us Congress may offer some help this week.
