Cat Show

Cat Fanciers – and their prize felines -- from around Florida were in Ft. Myers this weekend. The Harborside Event Center hosted the Platinum Coast Cat Fanciers 15th annual show. Valerie Alker has the scoop. (AUDIO)

Cabinet

Here’s a geography question: What’s the capital of Florida? If you said Tallahassee, you were right… sort of. But Wednesday, the city of Ft. Myers became “Capital for a Day.” Governor Jeb Bush and members of his cabinet held their bi-weekly cabinet meeting in the City of Palms. It was was open to the public – which got a civics lesson, of sorts. Valerie Alker has more. (AUDIO)

DCA

The Florida department of community affairs is sponsoring a series of disaster recovery workshops around the state… and they could result in money to help communities rebuild—even as they prepare for more storms. Baby_V

Vonzell “Baby V” Solomon stepped foot in her hometown Fort Myers for the first time in over 2 months on Friday. She’s survived weekly eliminations to claim Top 3 standing in the popular reality talent show American Idol. As part of the show, each of the final contestants get to visit his or her hometown, and Centennial Park in downtown Fort Myers was packed with fans. Kathleen Moye was there. (AUDIO)

MSF

Where there are victims of war, of natural disaster, and of disease, there’s most likely someone from Doctors Without Borders, as well. Known internationally by its French name, Medecins Sans Frontieres, it has a presence in 80 different countries.
