Activists in the Fair Food movement will protest in front of Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurants across the country Wednesday. The Coalition of Immokalee (CIW) workers say the chain is not living up to a 2009 agreement. But, the nationwide purveyor of burritos and other Mexican-style food says that’s not the case.

Occupy Ft. Myers Continues


A small tent city remains today in Ft. Myers Centennial Park as Occupy Ft. Myers protestors hold their ground.   Thursday night police issued more than a hundred citations to protestors for being in the park after closing time and for not  having liability insurance  Allan Combs left before he got a citation but was back Friday morning.

Hands Across the Sand

Thousands of people in Florida and throughout the world drew a literal “line in the sand” Saturday afternoon against off-shore drilling and showing support for clean and renewable energy.  WGCU’s John Davis attended a “Hands Across the Sand” demonstration in Naples and has this report.

CIW Publix Rally

Members of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and Interfaith Action of Southwest Florida will hold a rally in front of a Publix store in Lakeland on Sunday to protest what they say are poor wages and working conditions faced by farmworkers. WGCU’s John Davis reports.

Critical Habitat
