Military Heritage Museum

The
Cultural Center of Charlotte County is hosting a military themed
fashion show on Friday called “Dress Blues to ACUs”.  It’s a fundraiser
for the Military Heritage Museum in Punta Gorda, which has lots of
uniforms on display, along with wartime memorabilia dating back to the
Civil War.  WGCU’s Valerie Alker recently took a tour and prepared this
report.

Eagle National Security Training Center

Commissioners in Highlands County vote Tuesday on zoning changes necessary for a proposed 77-hundred acre private military training facility near Venus. The project has stirred up strong opposition from area environmental advocates and many of the inland county’s residents. WGCU’s Mike Kiniry reports.

Bailey

The New Terminal at
Charlotte County Airport was officially renamed the Bailey Terminal
today/yesterday. The name honors seven African American Brothers born
in Punta Gorda  who all served their country in the military. WGCU’s
Valerie Alker reports.

Cookies

Eight
thousand pounds of Girl Scout Cookies were delivered to military
personnel serving at Guantanamo Bay on Tuesday.  It’s called operation
“Mints for the Military”.  WGCU’s Valerie Alker reports.
