Free CPR & AED Classes

Roughly 300-thousand people die in the U-S every year from sudden cardiac arrest according to the American Red Cross. If CPR is applied within the first ten minutes the chances of survival increase to almost 50-percent.  As part of CPR and AED awareness week in June the Urgent Care Center of Southwest Florida is trying to get more people certified in the proper use of both. So it’s offering free classes. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez reports.

There’s
a new option for women in the fight against breast cancer: a
five-minute screening that can identify abnormalities in the breast,
long before they turn into tumors. There are just a few physicians in
Florida offering the procedure. Katie Pankow found one, and has this
report.

Pediatric Dental Clinic

A
new poll shows 34 percent of American’s are foregoing regular visits to
the dentist.  Many say they can’t afford it.  A new Pediatric Dental
Clinic at Edison State College in Naples is dealing with the
consequences of a lack of access to dental care – rebuilding the smiles
of children, sometimes as young as three years old.  WGCU’s Valerie
Alker reports.
