Budget Cuts in Tallahassee

The Florida legislature heads back to Tallahassee Wednesday for a special session to cut roughly 1-billion dollars from the state’s current annual budget. While details on exactly how they’ll accomplish that aren’t clear…most lawmakers agree: it’s not going to be fun. WGCU’s Mike Kiniry reports.

Sarasota Penny Tax

Sarasota County Commissioners are looking to renew an extra penny sales tax for another 15 years. The tax would generate an estimated 1.4 billion dollars for infrastructure improvements and other construction projects. WGCU's John Davis reports.

The Florida Democratic Party is urging rank and file members to demand full voting rights in the presidential nominating process. The Democratic National Committee ruled Florida delegates would not be seated during the convention unless the state party pushed their primary vote to February fifth or later.
