Casino Deal Overturned

The Florida Supreme Court has overturned an agreement Governor Charlie Crist signed with the Seminole Tribe to expand gambling at its casinos. But it may be weeks or longer before the true impact of the ruling is known. Bobbie O’Brien reports.

NASA Jobs

Top NASA leaders say the end of the space shuttle program may not mean as big a hit to the Florida economy as was indicated earlier this year. At a Port Canaveral hearing before a U-S Senate committee yesterday, NASA officials told Florida Senators things will be slightly better after the space shuttle program ends. Pollinators Week

In February Governor Charlie Crist signed yet another “week” into law…this time it was Pollinators Week, which begins Monday. But before you think “don’t our lawmakers have better things to do?” or “what can I do for pollinators?” stop and consider this: much of the food we eat owes its existence to the work of pollinators. State lawmakers continue budget negotiations this week in Tallahassee. The Florida House has approved a 65-billion dollar budget – that’s five billion less than last year’s. The Senate budget contains about 800-million dollars more. WGCU’s Valerie Alker reports.

President Bush in Jacksonville

President George W. Bush praised one of Florida's ports yesterday for its commitment to international trade. As Alyssa Zamora reports, President Bush was in Jacksonville to talk about the importance of new free trade agreements during tough economic times.

AED Legislation Proposed

More than 200-thousand people die of Cardiac Arrest each year. About a quarter of these deaths could have been prevented if an Automated External Defibrillator - or AED – had been used immediately. The Senate Judiciary Committee heard a bill Wednesday that would allow the AED to be used in public areas and schools. Lynn Hatter has the story.
