Gasoline Hybrid Bus

Bee Experiment

A class of Florida Gulf Coast University students is conducting a series of outdoor experiments later this morning at the Bonita Springs Nature Place…they’ll be trying to determine whether honey bees can count, and what exactly they see when buzzing past a bright RED flower. Assistant professor of animal behavior at FGCU Billy Gunnels spoke with WGCU’s Mike Kiniry about the experiment.

On Tuesday Florida Gulf Coast University President Wilson Bradshaw announced a 1-million dollar gift that will establish the Backe Chair in Renewable Energy. Constitution Day at FGCU

In 2004 congress designated September 17th
as Constitution Day – the same day as Citizenship Day. They mandated
that all federally funded schools teach something about the
constitution on that day. Many schools pass out small copies of the
constitution. But, at Florida Gulf Coast University a group of
students and professors decided to take it a little farther. WGCU’s
Luis Hernandez has this report.

Vester Marine Field Station

It’s
been 2 years since Florida Gulf Coast University bought an old 12 unit
resort that was once a commercial fish house on Estero Bay in south Lee
County.  Now it’s a Marine and Environmental Science Research Field
Station.  WGCU’s Mike Kiniry took a tour and has this report.

Welcome Back
