Farm to Fuel Program
Earlier this year the Florida Legislature established what’s called the “Farm to Fuel Program” with the goal of producing a quarter of the state’s energy needs with locally grown crops by 2025. Biofuel Trees in Lee County
The use of corn ethanol as an alternative fuel source is cause of much debate. So Florida and Lee County officials are looking further. Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottcamp joined Lee County Commissioner Ray Judah and others to plant the first of a unique tree last week in Orange River Park. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez reports how some feel this tree is a better alternative as a bio-fuel, yet it’s not all good news.
