Florida’s former Governor Jeb Bush will be back in the public spotlight this week. He’s headlining the Education Summit on School Choice in Orlando. Bush says he’s not campaigning for office, but for education. And his former Education Policy Advisor Patricia Leveque has played a big role in getting School-choice back in the spotlight. The ‘Scientific Theory of Evolution’ in Florida Schools
When the Florida Board of Education set out to revamp the state’s public school science curriculum earlier this year – the process wasn’t expected to be controversial. But that changed when the word Evolution entered the mix, to the dismay of faith-based groups. The new standards have now been approved – but not without a bit of tension and a last minute compromise. FCAT Writing Results
The first batch of Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test scores were released Thursday. The overall performance for fourth, eighth and tenth graders in the writing portion remained relatively the same as last year. Charlotte County is one of those enjoying continued success.
