Cold Case

Hendry County Crime Scene Investigators gathered on a recent Saturday afternoon in an orange grove west of Immokalee to re-enact a 22-year old unsolved murder of a little girl. With help from a national organization and Edison State College, officials hope to find answers that have eluded them for the past two decades. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez was there to watch the events unfold.

Migrant College

Children of migrant families seldom finish a school year on one campus – they have to go where the work is. Some change schools as their parents move around the country, take time out to work the fields or drop out of school altogether. At Immokalee High School there’s a new crop of students who want to break the mold and reach for something better. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez reports.

FGCU Buckingham Site

Florida
Gulf Coast University‘s board of trustees voted unanimously Tuesday to
expand its campus by adding a 500 acre parcel of land in Buckingham in
East Fort Myers.  WGCU’s John Davis reports.

Solar Teaching Array

A
solar array was installed yesterday at L.A. Ainger Middle School in
Rotonda West.  It’s there to power classrooms and teach students.

Elementary School Running Club

Three mornings a week at an elementary school in Fort Myers more than a hundred kids show up early…so they can run laps.  It’s not punishment.  It’s not P.E.  It’s a running club, made possible by the volunteer efforts of one devoted woman.  WGCU’s Mike Kiniry has more.
