FGCU's New President Named

The words…the search is over…are resonating throughout the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University. The Board of Trustees chose its man on Saturday. But the decision didn’t come easily. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez has more on the vote, the person taking charge and how he plans to shape the future for FGCU.

New President Spot

Florida Gulf Coast University faculty, staff and students are breathing a sigh of relief - as the university can now move forward with a new leader at the helm. This weekend FGCU’s Board of Trustees chose a new president – the first leader of color the school has appointed. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez reports on the man given the responsibility of taking the university into the future.

FGCU Presidential Search is Narrowed to Six

A search committee has narrowed the field for Florida Gulf Coast University’s next president to six candidates:



• Ray Alden III -- Executive Vice President and Provost -- Northern Illinois.



• Wilson "Brad" Bradshaw -- President -- Metropolitan State.



• Karen Holbrook -- Former President -- Ohio State University.



• Joe Shepard -- Vice President for Administrative Services and Finance -- Florida Gulf Coast University.



• Bob Smith -- Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs -- University of Arkansas.



• Greg Weisenstein -- Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs -- University of North Dakota.



On campus interviews begin today inside the Student Union on campus…and continue thru Thursday. The public is invited…here’s the schedule.



• Raymond Alden: 3:30-4:30 p.m. today
• Wilson Bradshaw: 5-6 p.m. today
• Karen Holbrook: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday
• Joe Shepard: 5-6 p.m. Wednesday
• Bob Smith: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday
• Greg Weisenstein: 5-6 p.m. Thursday



A final decision is expected by Saturday.

FGCU 10 Year Anniversary

Elementary Spanish

Sunshine Questions

More than a dozen members of the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce announced Friday that they are looking into recent controversial actions by the Collier County School Board. The board fired, and then immediately found a candidate to replace the school superintendent. WGCU’s Luis Hernandez has this report about possible Sunshine law violations.
