FGCU's BOT Meeting

What impact has the economy had on Florida’s higher education? Florida Gulf Coast University’s Board of Trustees met with a representative of the State Board of Governors Tuesday to discuss what the future has in store for state universities. WGCU’s Katie Pankow reports.

FGCU's new Everglades Hall

When Florida Gulf Coast University opened its doors ten years ago, the majority of its students were commuters. Now the university is starting to see a shift, and is doing its best to keep students on campus by opening a new residence building. WGCU’s Katie Pankow reports.

DOE Proposed Budget Increase

Yesterday the state board of education voted to send their 2009-10 budget to legislators. That request is 850-million dollars more than what the department of education received last year. Lynn Hatter spoke with Florida’s Commissioner of Education to find out why.

One Laptop Per Child in Immokalee

When a group of Collier County students return to class on Tuesday – they’ll have some neat stories to share about how they spent their summer vacation. In fact they’ll be able to show and tell what that they’ve done using computer animated graphics they created themselves. WGCU’s Valerie Alker prepared this report on the One Laptop Per Child program that was launched this summer in Immokalee.
